Back to Work...

Well my friends, I am officially back to work.  It was a long glorious summer, filled with lots of fun... and thanks to Mother Nature... LOTS of excitement!  And as much as I love summer break, I love my job even more!  Every time I come back after break, and I am filled with all the promise and anticipation that a new school year brings.  Those of you with school aged kids, know how exciting it is for the kids, well believe me, the teachers are even MORE excited than they are! LOL!

Being in my classroom today, and meeting with my 3rd grade team, re-energizes my spirit and reminds me that this is where I am meant to be.  Well, at least when I'm not in my scrap-room... heehee!

Here are a few pics of my "home away from home."
(I know it's not scrap related... but it's my next favorite thing to do, lol!)

Outside of my door.
Blessed to have so much technology at our disposal.
Still much to do, but I have time.  The lil' sweetie pies don't start until Sept. 6.

Thank you my friends, for humoring me as I rambled in this
non-scrappy post!
More scrappy stuff coming soon, I promise!!!

Maybe I Don't ❤ College...

Hello my Bloggin' Buddies...
Well as most of you know, my daughter headed back to college last week.  This being her second year, I've been dealing with it fairly well... until today.  I'm not even sure why, or what even set it off.

I've been trying my best to keep myself busy... making lots of cards, entering many challenges, pimping myself out to anyone needing or wanting a Guest Designer. My youngest and I have been spending a lot of time together, going to the pool, hitting balls at the driving range...  I even submitted to going to see a movie he picked, aaaaaand I'm pretty sure that just watching it, dropped my IQ several points.

Nevertheless, I'm experiencing an overwhelming sense of longing for her company.  Surely every parent with college-aged kids go through this same thing, and the ones I know, tell me "don't worry, it'll be okay..."  Well, yes, I know it will be okay.  BUT I still don't like it, and it still hurts that she's so far away... and so here I'll sit waiting to feel "okay" again.  However, I will not be idle as I sit and wait... I will make MORE cards, and enter MORE challenges, and spend MORE time with my boy. LOL!

So, I've made a card for my daughter Megan.  The sentiment simply says "fly"...   My hubby and I did the best we could raising her to be strong, smart, and self-sufficient.  And now that it's her time to "fly," I hope and pray that she "SOARS."

I've entered this card in this week's
and the challenge is to use LAYERS...

The paper collection is Valise by Memory Box
The Senti is a Rub-on from Michael's
The Flowers were a gift from my dear friend Friday
and they're from Prima...

Almost as lovely as the person who gave them to me!
Wish you could see all the luscious shimmery goodness
that my Lindy's sprays provide!!
Let me find a better pic... okay here it is...

I sprayed it all with Lindy's Stamp Gang in
I'm loving the Glitz Spritz, it's so versatile. It's just glitter, so
you get tons of sparkle without compromising the color!

Okay and just one more pic, 'cause I watched a vid today and learned a
new Copic coloring technique. I used it on this image, and I'm really
excited about how it turned out...

Here's the vid I watched:

It's by Arlene the great "mybutterflykisses12" on YouTube.
The technique is to use your colorless blender to lay a
base for blending before you color with your Copic Markers.

So my friends... long post, right?  Thank you for bearing through it!!! : P
Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!

I ❤ College

Hello my friends! Today we loaded up the car and sent my first born off to start her second year of college.  And I gotta say... saying good-bye to her, in my driveway this morning was a whole heck of a lot easier then leaving her on the steps of the dorm a year ago.

Not saying that I didn't shed a few tears, just didn't do the whole uncontrollable bawling that doesn't stop until you immerse yourself completely in a bowl of  Dairy Queen's Brownie Earthquake!  I'm proud to say that this year, I immersed myself in my scraproom instead!  A lot less calories, and a far more constructive way to console myself!  I finished two minis, and they are ready to ship out...

Cards for Carolina ❤

A few months ago, I did a one-on-one swap with a fellow YouTuber, Patricia @ tubeyoumaster1.  She is an awesome artist, and y'all should definitely check her out.  I'm always impressed with her clever use of everyday items, and the beauty she see and brings to fruition.  And on top of all that she's terribly sweet, and tremendously generous!

Anyhoo, the point of the whole bit of rambling, is that through that exchange I was blessed to have met Carolina @ CarolinaCreations.  Another lovely sweetheart of a lady!  We decided that she and I should also do a one-on-one swap.  We agreed on a three card swap, and so I want to share what I created for Dulce Carolina (hehe):

TGIF & Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge #31

http://tickledpinkstampschallenges.blogspot.com/
Hola my friends! TGIF, right???  So it's been a super busy week... came back from NYC; we went to hang out with "la familia," AND to finally see THE LION KING on Broadway!!!  It was AWESOME, we enjoyed it immensely!

When we returned from the city, we decided to take a quick day trip to Virginia Beach.  Hubby had to work, so I took my momma instead : )

Next on our list of "things to do" was to get my daughter ready for her second year of college.  She and her room-mates are moving out of the dorms this year, so there was much shopping to be done.

Finally, I was able to spend a little quality time in the SCRAPROOM!  I worked on some more cards for the swap I mentioned in my last post... but they're not quite ready yet, plus I don't want the recipients to see them. I'll just post those once delivered ;P

I did however, complete my GDT project for PaperCrafting Journey (can't post that yet either.)

And, I also completed this week's entry for

Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge #30

This week's challenge at my favorite Pink place is "SHAPED CARD NOT A SQUARE"  I finally got the TH clock die, so I decided to go with ROUND.  I've also been meaning to break out one of my old favorite paper pads... Good Ole' G45's Steampunk Debutante (oh so lovely paper!), and I've been playing with some of the newer Lindy's Stamp Gang sets (Drink Me Silly's Fuzzy Navel & My Mojito Green)... threw it all together and "TaDaaaa"
This is what I've got...

Thanks for stopping by for a quick peek! I'll be posting again soon, just finishing up some cards I'm making for my swap with Friday'sCreations & DaileyScrapper!

"Top Cat" Cheri strikes again this month with another lovely sketch, and here it is:
