Life's Little Delights...

Hello Blog-O-Sphere Friends!

I'm just sitting here this morning with a hot cup of joe, and a smile on my face.  A smile undoubtedly plastered on my face 'cause I have nothing to do... absolutely nothing.  And so I'm taking this opportunity of peace and quiet to reflect on why I'm feeling so happy.

I can start with the obvious, I'm a teacher on summer break and that in itself is exhilarating! School just ended about five days ago and I haven't had enough time yet to miss everything I love about my job. So right now I'm just happy to bask in the comfort and knowledge that I did all that I could do to make this last year all that it could be.  I fell in love with my students, I gave them all I had, and I am so proud of their growth.  It was a successful year, I packed up my room and put everything away, now I can rest and recharge for the next school year.

I am happy because I have more time to enjoy other areas in my life that I tend to put on the back burner throughout the school year.  One of my life's little delights... PAPERCRAFTING!!!

The need to create pretty little things with paper is at an all time high right now!  I joined the ladies at Latinas Arts & Crafts again this week for another one of their fun challenges.  This week the challenge included a tutorial for creating a little recipe box.  You can find the tutorial HERE.  And if you're into papercrafts, I encourage you to join in on the fun!

Here is my box:

My sister Yvette, found this amazing paper pad at Hobby Lobby,
and bought one for each of us!
One of the many reasons I love that woman so much, just so generous,
and knows just what I love!

The paper pad is from Paper Studio and is called Petals & Bloom.
If you don't have a Hobby Lobby close by, you can find it HERE.
Isn't it pretty! It features all of my favorite colors and designs! Love, love, love it!
This is actually my second project with this amazing paper collection.  I had to put it on hold to complete this challenge.  But here's a sneak peek, I'll be sure to share when it's all done!
Hope you have time to enjoy your own personal delight today my friends!

Latinas Arts & Crafts Reto #67

Hello fellow Scrappers!

It's been so long since I last posted, I had to reset my password! I hope the format hasn't changed much, since I'm definitely a little rusty blogging.  Well, my friends so much has happened since I last posted.  I rarely have time to craft, I'm teaching a new grade level, my oldest has moved to NYC, my youngest has completed his first year of college, and for heavens sakes... the country has elected a new leader that I would have never, in a million years, foreseen.  But here we are... enjoying the blessings of another day filled with sunshine and smiles.  And if you're here, reading this, then you too are blessed with a little extra time to peruse the internet in search of information and pictures about our shared passion - Papercrafts!

So here it is, my little piece to share:

I created this tag in order to participate in a papercraft challenge being hosted by a lovely group of ladies over at Latinas Arts & Crafts Blog.  Reto #67 challenges participants to prepare any project of their choice as long as it includes "Hilos e Hilazas" (threads and yarns.) In order to meet the requirements, I first intertwined thread throughout the flowers. Next, I used jute to spell out the word "love."  I glued it directly onto the tag, and then gave it a coat of gesso, to both brighten the jute's natural fiber color and to harden it into place. Although jute isn't exactly "yarn," I'm hoping to still be eligible for this fun challenge.  Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed visiting.
Have a great day!
